Wings is part of DARPA open source software projects for Big Data

Wings semantic workflow system is part of the original collection of DARPA open source software projects for big data.

In February 2014, DARPA released a catalog of open source software for big data.

Through our participation in the DARPA , we integrated Wings with the Apache OODT workflow execution and data management system, and demonstrated it for the detection of emergent patterns in very large geospatial data.

The catalog includes as infrastructure for big data:

"WINGS is a semantic workflow system that can be used to automate data analysis processes represented as workflows of computations. A unique feature of WINGS is that its workflow representations incorporate semantic constraints about datasets and workflow components, and are used to create and validate workflows and to generate metadata for new data products. WINGS submits workflows to scalable execution frameworks such as Apache OODT to run workflows at large scale in distributed resources."
